Nebilet 5 mg is a prescription cardiovascular medicine containing nebivolol, a selective beta blocker with additional blood vessel relaxing activity. This 28 tablet pack is used within an individualized plan for blood pressure or selected heart failure management.

Approved uses:
• Treatment of essential hypertension in adults.
• Treatment of stable mild to moderate chronic heart failure in addition to standard therapy in patients aged 70 years or older.

Therapeutic role:
Nebivolol slows excessive heart rate and reduces the force against which the heart pumps, while supporting vasodilation. The expected result is controlled blood pressure and, in eligible older patients with stable heart failure, support for the prescribed long term heart failure regimen.

Active ingredient and composition:
Each tablet contains nebivolol 5 mg as nebivolol hydrochloride, comprising 2.5 mg d nebivolol and 2.5 mg l nebivolol. The official formulation also contains lactose monohydrate, polysorbate 80, hypromellose, maize starch, croscarmellose sodium, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica and magnesium stearate.

How to use:
For essential hypertension, the usual adult dose in the official leaflet is 5 mg once daily, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food. Older adults, patients with kidney impairment and patients treated for heart failure may require a lower starting dose and supervised dose titration. Swallow with water. Do not double a missed dose and do not stop nebivolol abruptly without medical advice.

Important safety information:
Heart rate and blood pressure require monitoring. Tell the prescriber about asthma or bronchospasm, slow pulse, heart block, worsening heart failure, liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes or poor circulation. Nebivolol may mask warning signs of low blood glucose and can interact with other heart rate or blood pressure medicines. Seek medical advice for marked breathlessness, fainting, very slow pulse or swelling that rapidly worsens.
