Zyrosa 10 mg is a prescription statin containing rosuvastatin. This pack contains 28 tablets and is used with diet and risk factor management to lower harmful cholesterol and reduce cardiovascular risk in appropriately selected patients.

Approved uses:
• Primary hypercholesterolaemia, mixed dyslipidaemia and selected familial hypercholesterolaemia as an adjunct to diet when non drug measures are insufficient.
• Prevention of major cardiovascular events in patients assessed to be at high risk, alongside correction of other risk factors.

Therapeutic role:
Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG CoA reductase in the liver, increasing removal of LDL cholesterol from blood and reducing cholesterol production. It lowers LDL and triglycerides and can modestly raise HDL; the cardiovascular benefit depends on continued treatment and overall risk management rather than an immediate symptom change.

Active ingredient and composition:
Each tablet contains rosuvastatin calcium equivalent to rosuvastatin 10 mg. The complete inactive ingredient list should be checked in the leaflet supplied with the local Zyrosa pack, especially for patients with a known excipient intolerance.

How to use:
Take exactly as prescribed, usually one tablet once daily at any time, with or without food. A 5 mg or 10 mg dose is a common starting range, selected by cholesterol level, cardiovascular risk, ancestry, kidney function and interaction risk. Continue the prescribed cholesterol lowering diet. Do not double a missed dose.

Important safety information:
Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active liver disease, unexplained persistent liver enzyme elevation, severe kidney impairment, current myopathy or ciclosporin. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness promptly, especially with fever or dark urine. The risk of muscle injury increases with some antivirals, fibrates and systemic fusidic acid. Liver tests and glucose monitoring may be appropriate. Antacids and some anticoagulants require medication review.
