Amlodar 5 mg is a prescription calcium channel blocker containing amlodipine. This pack contains 28 capsules and provides sustained blood vessel relaxation for blood pressure control and prevention of selected angina symptoms.

Approved uses:
• Treatment of high blood pressure.
• Treatment of chronic stable angina and vasospastic angina when prescribed.

Therapeutic role:
Amlodipine relaxes arterial smooth muscle, lowering vascular resistance and improving blood flow. It helps control blood pressure over 24 hours and reduces the frequency of angina in suitable patients, but it does not stop an acute angina attack.

Active ingredient and composition:
Each capsule provides amlodipine 5 mg as amlodipine besilate. The complete inactive ingredient list should be verified in the leaflet supplied with the local Amlodar capsule pack.

How to use:
Take exactly as prescribed, commonly one 5 mg capsule once daily at the same time, with or without food. The prescriber may adjust the dose according to blood pressure, angina response, age and liver function. Swallow with water. Do not take an extra dose for a missed capsule and do not use it for immediate relief of an acute chest pain attack.

Important safety information:
Blood pressure and symptoms should be reviewed after starting or changing dose. Tell the prescriber about severe liver disease, severe aortic stenosis, recent heart attack, worsening heart failure, pregnancy and all other blood pressure medicines. Dizziness can affect driving. New or worsening chest pain, fainting, facial swelling or severe shortness of breath requires prompt medical assessment.
