Ebglyss 250 mg per 2 ml contains lebrikizumab, a prescription monoclonal antibody for moderate to severe atopic dermatitis. It is intended for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older who weigh at least 40 kg and are candidates for systemic treatment because topical treatment is insufficient or unsuitable.

Approved uses:
• Systemic treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in eligible adults.
• Systemic treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in adolescents from 12 years who weigh at least 40 kg.
• Use alone or with prescribed topical corticosteroids; topical calcineurin inhibitors may be reserved for selected sensitive areas.

How it works:
Lebrikizumab is an IgG4 monoclonal antibody that selectively blocks interleukin 13 signalling, an important driver of type 2 inflammation in atopic dermatitis. This can reduce eczema severity, itching and skin inflammation in appropriate patients.

Active ingredient and composition:
Each single use prefilled pen contains lebrikizumab 250 mg in 2 ml solution, equivalent to 125 mg per ml. Excipients are histidine, glacial acetic acid, sucrose, polysorbate 20 and water for injections.

How to use:
Treatment is started by a clinician experienced in atopic dermatitis. The approved schedule begins with 500 mg at week 0 and week 2, requiring two 250 mg injections each time, followed by 250 mg every two weeks to week 16. After a clinical response, maintenance is 250 mg every four weeks. Self injection is allowed only after training. Inject under the skin in the thigh or abdomen, rotate sites, and do not inject into tender, damaged, bruised or affected skin.

Important safety information:
Stop and seek urgent care for signs of a severe allergic reaction. Report new or worsening eye redness, pain or visual change. Pre existing helminth infection should be treated before starting. Live vaccines should be avoided during treatment; vaccination status should be reviewed beforehand. Discuss pregnancy and breastfeeding with the specialist. Keep refrigerated, do not freeze or shake, and protect from light.
