Single-parameter urine reagent strips for rapid, semi-quantitative screening of ketones (primarily acetoacetic acid) at home or in a clinical setting by comparing the test pad with the color chart.

Expected benefit:
Helps monitor whether urinary ketones are absent or elevated during diabetes sick-day monitoring, ketogenic diets, fasting or other situations where ketone status matters. It is a screening tool, not a diagnosis.

Ingredients / composition:
Each strip has a ketone reagent pad based on sodium nitroprusside in a strongly alkaline medium, fixed to a plastic support. The strip is for in-vitro diagnostic use and does not contain a medicine.

Recommended use:
Collect fresh urine in a clean, dry container. Remove one strip without touching the reagent pad and close the container immediately. Dip until the pad is fully wet, remove it immediately, blot the edge on absorbent paper and compare with the color chart within 1–2 minutes. Ignore color changes after 2 minutes. Record the result and discard the strip; do not reuse.

Important precautions:
In-vitro diagnostic use only; do not ingest. Moisture, heat, light, expired strips, wrong timing, old urine, medicines and color-vision limitations can affect results. A negative urine result does not exclude early ketone buildup because the strip primarily detects acetoacetate, not beta-hydroxybutyrate. For diabetes, moderate or high ketones, vomiting, abdominal pain, deep breathing, fruity breath, drowsiness or high glucose require urgent medical guidance; suspected diabetic ketoacidosis is an emergency. Store tightly closed at 15–30°C, away from direct sunlight and children. Use within 3 months of first opening and before the expiry date.
