Gliptacin Met contains 50 mg vildagliptin and 850 mg metformin. It is a prescription combination medicine for adults with type 2 diabetes whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled with metformin alone or who already use vildagliptin and metformin separately.
How It Works
Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases the activity of natural incretin hormones. This supports glucose-dependent insulin release and reduces inappropriate glucagon production after meals. Metformin helps reduce glucose production in the liver and limits its absorption from the gut.
How to Use
The recommended schedule is commonly one tablet twice daily—one in the morning and one in the evening. Take it with or just after food. The doctor selects the appropriate strength according to existing treatment, kidney function and response. Never double a missed dose.
Common Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort and loss of appetite are most common. Headache, dizziness or low blood sugar may also occur, especially when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas.
