Erelzi 50 mg per 1 ml is a prescription biosimilar biological medicine containing etanercept, supplied as four single use prefilled pens. It blocks tumour necrosis factor and is used by specialists for selected chronic inflammatory diseases when disease severity and prior treatment meet the approved criteria.

Approved uses:
• Moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, alone or with methotrexate according to the patient's treatment history.
• Psoriatic arthritis and axial spondyloarthritis, including ankylosing spondylitis and selected non radiographic disease.
• Plaque psoriasis and approved forms of juvenile idiopathic arthritis when age, weight and previous treatment criteria are met.

How it works:
Etanercept is a soluble tumour necrosis factor receptor fusion protein. It binds TNF and reduces the inflammatory signalling that contributes to joint, spine and skin disease.

Active ingredient and composition:
Each prefilled pen contains etanercept 50 mg in 1 ml solution. Excipients are anhydrous citric acid, sodium citrate dihydrate, sodium chloride, sucrose, L lysine hydrochloride, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid and water for injections.

How to use:
Treatment is started and supervised by a specialist. A usual adult regimen is 50 mg once weekly; plaque psoriasis may use 50 mg twice weekly for the first 12 weeks in selected adults, then 50 mg once weekly. The exact schedule depends on the condition. Inject under the skin only after training, rotate sites and do not inject into tender, bruised, red, hard or psoriatic skin. This 50 mg pen is unsuitable for children who need a different weight based dose.

Important safety information:
Do not start during sepsis or another active infection. Screening for tuberculosis and hepatitis B is required, and infection risk continues during treatment. Report fever, persistent cough, weight loss, night sweats, wounds or dental infection promptly. Discuss heart failure, demyelinating disease, blood disorders, cancer history, latex sensitivity, pregnancy and all vaccines. Avoid live vaccines. Stop and seek urgent help for severe allergy or signs of serious infection.
